THE SHORT ANSWER
Independent go-to-market consultants charge roughly $150 to $400 an hour. Fixed-scope projects generally run $15,000 to $60,000. Fractional go-to-market leadership generally runs $8,000 to $25,000 a month. StageOne publishes its numbers: $7,500 for a two-week read, $25,000 for one component rebuilt, $60,000 for the full build, $6,000 a month for advisory.
Those ranges are wide because the category is. The same phrase covers a strategy deck, a fractional executive seat, an agency running outbound on your behalf, and a rebuild of your actual sales system. They are not the same product and they should not cost the same.
WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY BUYING
| WHAT IT IS | TYPICAL PRICE | WHAT YOU GET |
|---|---|---|
| A strategy deck | $10,000 to $50,000 | A diagnosis and a recommendation. Somebody else executes it, which usually means nobody does. |
| A fractional seat | $8,000 to $25,000 a month | A part-time revenue leader who runs your team. Ongoing by design, so the cost does not end. |
| An outsourced agency | $5,000 to $20,000 a month | They run outbound for you. You are renting activity, not building capability. |
| A system rebuild | $15,000 to $60,000 fixed | Someone rebuilds the part that is broken, installs it in your tools, trains your team, and leaves on a written date. |
StageOne only does the fourth one. That is a deliberate narrowing and it is worth knowing before you spend twenty minutes on a call.
WHAT STAGEONE CHARGES
| ENGAGEMENT | PRICE | WHAT IT COVERS |
|---|---|---|
| The Read | $7,500 | Two weeks in your CRM record and your own numbers. You get the diagnosis in writing. Credited in full against whatever you book next. If it tells you nothing you did not already know, you do not pay for it. |
| The Build | $25,000 | One of four components rebuilt end to end, installed in your tools, with your team trained to run it. |
| The Full Build | $60,000 | Everything the read turned up, rebuilt across components. |
| The Advisory | $6,000 per month | Standing time after a build, three-month minimum. Not a fractional seat and not running your team. |

QUESTIONS BUYERS ACTUALLY ASK
Usually because the price depends on what they think you can pay, or because the scope is not defined well enough to price. Neither is a good sign. A defined piece of work has a number attached to it before the first conversation.
Fixed fee. Hourly billing pays a consultant for elapsed time rather than for a finished system, which means the incentive runs against you finishing. Go-to-market rebuilds have a definable end state, so they can be scoped and priced up front.
Number of components rebuilt, number of selling motions in play, size of the sales team being trained, and the state of the CRM record. A company with clean data and one motion costs materially less than a company with four motions and a CRM nobody trusts.
Something your team uses after the consultant leaves. Written stage definitions with exit criteria, a documented ideal customer profile derived from win-loss data, the resources a rep holds in a live call, and the operating rhythm for the person running the team. A slide deck is not a deliverable.
Thirty minutes. No deck. Tell me what the last two quarters looked like and I will tell you which component I would open first, including if the answer is none of them.
